Doreen Rosenthal was an intern in astronomy; the position required living on Nantucket Island. She was making observations of the night sky and was recording her activity on a video system when the storm associated with the Event ended. She immediately recognized that the visible stars in the sky were wrong for March 1998. She ran her data through a computer program and discovered that the star field matched the spring of 1250 BCE. She was "morally" certain it was the same day and was the same time of day because the sun rose as scheduled.
In a meeting following the Event, Doreen revealed that she had learned to speak Lithuanian from her mother and that, because of the language's ancient nature it would probably be recognized throughout Europe. As a result Doreen ends up as a passenger on the Eagle's voyage to Europe on a mission trading for grain.
